Learn. Practise.
Dance.
Weekly On2 salsa classes designed to build strong fundamentals, better movement and genuine confidence on the dance floor — in a relaxed and social environment.
Learn properly.
Enjoy the process.
Our classes combine structured teaching with plenty of opportunity to practise and dance. You'll develop the skills that make salsa work — timing, movement, connection, technique and musicality — rather than simply collecting routines.
How the evening works.
Inspire Mambo nights are designed to give you time to learn and time to actually use what you've learned. The break between classes isn't dead time — it's an opportunity to practise, ask questions and dance.
7:30pm
Fundamentals
Build timing, footwork, technique and clear partnerwork from the ground up.
8:15pm
Practice Break
Dance through what you've learned, ask questions and get comfortable before the next class.
8:20pm
Developing Class
Take the fundamentals further with more challenging partnerwork, technique and concepts.
9:00pm
Social Dancing
Put everything into practice in a relaxed environment with music and social dancing until 9:30pm.
More than routines.
Partnerwork is a big part of salsa, but good dancing starts with understanding your own movement first.
Footwork
Classes include individual footwork to develop timing, coordination, balance and confidence before applying those skills with a partner.
Partnerwork
Learn how leading and following actually work — connection, direction, preparation and technique — rather than simply memorising sequences.
Practice
Repetition matters. You'll have opportunities during the evening to practise what you've learned and make it feel natural before adding more.
Salsa is about much more.
Regular classes will focus on the foundations of On2 salsa, but over time Inspire Mambo will also introduce focused classes, workshops and sessions covering different aspects of the dance.
Musicality
Understanding salsa music, recognising structure and learning how your dancing can respond to what you hear.
Body Movement
Develop natural movement, coordination, control and greater freedom through the body.
Shines & Footwork
Individual salsa footwork, rhythm changes and movement designed to improve confidence without a partner.
Partner Connection
Better leading and following through connection, preparation, timing and clear communication.
Technique
Turns, balance, weight transfer, posture and the details that make dancing feel cleaner and more controlled.
Styling & Expression
Develop your own movement and expression without losing the fundamentals of connection and timing.
More specialist classes are coming.
As the Inspire Mambo community grows, we'll introduce dedicated workshops and focused sessions alongside the regular weekly programme.
Start where you are.
You don't need previous dance experience to begin. The programme is designed to give you a clear route from your first basic step onwards.
Beginners
Learn timing, basic footwork, turns, cross-body movement, connection and the core building blocks of On2 salsa.
Beginners+
Become more comfortable with the fundamentals and start developing a broader vocabulary with greater control.
Improvers
Refine technique, develop stronger partnerwork and start exploring musicality, movement and more advanced concepts.
Ready to start dancing?
Join us on Tuesday in Sutton. Complete beginners are welcome, you don't need a partner and you can start from the beginning.
Everything you need to know.
New to salsa? No problem. Here are the answers to the questions we get most often before people come to their first Inspire Mambo class.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that lets you move easily. You don't need specialist dancewear.
For shoes, choose something secure and comfortable with a sole that allows you to turn without too much grip. Avoid very heavy trainers or footwear that sticks strongly to the floor.
Do I need a partner?
No. Most people come on their own and partners rotate during the class, so you'll get the opportunity to dance with different people.
Couples are of course welcome too.
Can complete beginners join?
Absolutely. Beginners classes are designed for people starting from scratch. You don't need previous dance experience, good rhythm, or any knowledge of salsa.
Which level should I choose?
If you're new to salsa, start with Beginners. If you already understand the core timing, basic turns and partnerwork, Beginners+ / Improvers may be more suitable.
If you're unsure, just ask us before class.
What happens during a lesson?
Classes typically combine footwork and partnerwork. We'll break movements down clearly, practise them individually and then apply the concepts with a partner.
The focus is on understanding the dance, not simply memorising routines.
Is there time to practise?
Yes. Practice is an important part of the evening. There is time between classes to dance through what you've learned, ask questions and get comfortable with the material.
Social dancing also gives you a chance to use those skills naturally.
Do I need to book?
Booking in advance is recommended so we know how many people to expect and can manage class numbers.
Where spaces are available, walk-ins may also be possible.
What if I miss a week?
Don't worry. Classes are structured to help you develop over time, but missing one week doesn't mean you can't continue.
If you're unsure what you've missed, speak to us and we'll help you get back up to speed.
